- Students should already be able to convert fractions to decimals, decimals to percents, percents to decimals, decimals to fractions, fractions to equivalent fractions. If you don't know how to do this yet, KEEP WORKING ON IT!
- Two very good activities here. We did one in class. In this first exercise (Mixing Lemonade), you should be able to get 5 in a row correct. Don't stop until you can get 5 in a row. The second link will require some problem solving (Peaches Today, Peaches Tomorrow...).

What an incredible, exciting week here at IST. We have visiting author Marc Tyler Nobleman, here to give us two sets of talks: a large one with upper primary, as well as a class workshop entitled "What's So Funny?" Also, something strange was found on the IST. I'm glad the security guards were there to keep us at a safe distance. Any thoughts? Other important notes:
A notice from the school:"We have been informed that the President of Tanzania has declared that tomorrow [Monday, 13 JAN] will be a public holiday, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Zanzibar’s revolution. IST will, therefore, be closed for the day on Monday 13th January, as well as on Tuesday 14th January for the Maulid holiday already scheduled. Classes will resume on Wednesday 15th January."
_____ Monday, 13 JAN: No school - just announced! Tuesday, 14 JAN: No school - Maulid Day. Wednesday, 15 JAN: The Grade 5 classes are heading up to Secondary School to watch two performances by the Grade 6 students. We will be leaving the Elementary Campus at 9:00amand returning at around 11:30am. Thursday, 16 JAN: Hoot and Artemis Fowl books should be completed. Please see the schedules below. Friday, 17 JAN (7:15 in the Staff Room): Parent information session on our next unit: Who We Are. Parents, please check your email. Students, please make sure your parents check their email. If they haven't received an email from me, let me know and I'll resend it. Friday, 24 JAN (7:20): Rocket launch day. This will take place on the grass area next to the covered court.
